JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Develop and execute strategic and tactical Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) plans to increase risk recognition and reduce injuries/incidents, improve employee health, maintain environmental compliance. Lead EHS programs (including industrial hygiene and process safety) at the company locations to protect the employees, customers and the environment.
 
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Design, and implement HSE Programs, Policies and Procedures; and integrate into the teams for program management and following requirements.
  • Encourage an environment of safe working practices that focuses on standards such as ISO14001:2015 (Environmental) and ISO45001:2017 (Health and Safety).
  • Assist in conducting compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management. 
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance by developing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, near misses, property damage incidents or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures. Conduct field audits, guide and provide corrective actions to protect workers.
  • Build a system to ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure; and guide to prepare, organize, and maintain inspection records. Record laboratory or field data, including numerical data, test results, photographs, or summaries of visual observations. 
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives by developing short term and long term strategies to address them.
  • Coordinate/assist with site monthly safety meetings, provide details of updates to safety program, changes, and develop safety topics.
  • Support site safety contacts in maintaining and driving a culture of continuous improvement for safety like Promoting Incident prevention.
  • Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives of an effective EHS Program.
  • Conduct, coordinate and track various training to support company programs, employee orientations and educate employees on how to prevent health problems through the use of modular safety training programs. 
  • Provide guidance to maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training. 
  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures and providing emergency response training.
  • Perform environmental quality work in field or office settings, and gauge the effects focusing on creating a safe surrounding for our society.
  • Examine permits, licenses, applications, and records to ensure compliance and reporting with licensing requirements as per government regulations and other industry practices.
  • Determine the nature of code violations and actions to be taken, and coach the teams on corrective measures.
  • Ensure the company meets all its legislative compliance obligations with OSHA, EPA, AQMD, ADA, and fire codes as per Federal, State and Local requirements.
  • Create a program that conducts routine safety observations; and participate in manufacturing meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities to ensure that effective EHS program is implemented and working.
  • Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization. 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene or Environmental or Engineering in related field 
  • 3 – 6 years of experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety program implementation and coaching
  • Proficient knowledge of process safety and environmental regulations and technology
  • Experience with emergency planning and response in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience auditing facilities & developing safety protocols
  • Focusing on Change management/Improvement Methodologies/Problem Solving
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Excellent in Active and Formal Communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Analytical Professional with eagerness to learn and manage challenges
  • Creativity for innovation and out of the box thinking
  • Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills
  • Must be organized and work with constant priority changes
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office applications
