Expat Senior Tax Professional

Position available for US tax reviewer and also willing to prepare more complex returns in a busy small office handling US tax with lots of foreign tax issues. 
The perfect applicant needs to work independently with limited supervision and he or she is self-motivated. She or he needs to be able to manage a small but growing team of tax preparers and admin staff with top level direction from the UK head office.

Duties
  • Completing US tax returns, primarily 1040 expatriate returns.
  • Knowledge of CCH ProSystem fx an advantage.
  • Assist with developing the practice and increasing the client basis.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Review complex expatriate and stream line filed returns prepared in house.
  • Prepare complex returns.
  • E-file returns.
  • Ensure paper returns are packaged correctly. 60% of the returns are paper filed.
  • Remind taxpayers regularly for outstanding information on their case.
  • Respond to IRS letters and write penalty waiver requests under reasonable cause.
Education and Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of standard office software applications - MS Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, and Google.
  • Knowledge and experience in taxation (see core competencies below for specifics).
  • CPA or EA license.
Key Competencies
  • Competence in the following areas an advantage:
    • 1040 tax returns.
    • CCH ProSystem fx.
    • US corporate, partnership, and/or trust returns.
    • Expatriate US tax (forms 2555, 1116, 8621 both mark to market and default, & interaction between US and UK).
  • Proven experience in the competency areas: provide the # of returns (by type, 1040, 1120, 5471, etc.) prepared annually and the number over the course of the past ten years.
  • Excellence in spelling, punctuation, grammar and other English language skills.
  • Ability to maintain a tidy, clean, and efficiently run office.
  • Ability to take constructive criticism.
