EHS Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to EHS Compliance, as well as responsibility for all EHS Systems

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for site compliance at client
  • Participates in EHS systems integration across all client sites with responsibility for functionality and performance
  • Maintain central files for all Compliance reporting to all sites
  • Support efforts to fully integrate EHS into the business processes and ensure monthly reports, statistics and KPIs are reported on-time to VP of Operations
  • Provide leadership and support to the sites in the development and implementation of the Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety management system and ensure team understanding at all sites
  • Develop and support carbon emissions and sustainability efforts for client sites. Closely work with suppliers requiring this data on a monthly basis
  • Provide training and technical consulting to the sites on an ongoing basis as requested by the sites or as deemed necessary by the VP of Operations to ensure active and compliant management of EHS affairs at each Site
  • Troubleshoot/ diagnose potential EHS problems/ hazards and propose viable solutions
  • Acts as the main contact for any Governmental Regulatory inspections for EHS compliance
  • Maintain current knowledge of existing and emerging federal and local EHS laws and regulations
  • Maintain professional certifications and training requirements needed for the position
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Occupational H&S, Environmental Sciences or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Preferred Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • 5-7 years of industrial experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct management responsibilities for the EHS Compliance function
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • 5 years of proven experience with EHS management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present to peers as well as management effectively
